Colwyn Bay win at Rhyl

Posted by Tim Channon on July 15, 2008 10:30 PM |

COLWYN BAY produced an encouraging second half perfomance to win 1-0 at Rhyl in their second pre-season friendly on Tuesday night (July 15).
Rhyl played their big new signings Carl Owen, Neil Roberts and Jamie Reid in the first half, with first choice keeper Lee Kendall in goal throughout, and they opened up the Bay defence three or four times in the opening 15 minutes without being able to finish.
Farai Jackson was much the busier keeper without ever being really extended, but Colwyn Bay became more solid at the back as the game progressed and in the second half began to show some real belief in attack and played the ball around quite well at times.
The only goal of the game came on 75 minutes after Robbie Williams had been denied by a diving save from Kendall following good play by Dean Canning.
Rhyl failed to clear the resulting corner and when Tim Brandreth played the ball back in, John Davies stabbed the ball past Kendall for the winner.
