Briscoe Open hopes still alive

Posted by Tim Channon on July 4, 2008 10:02 AM |

OLD COLWYN golfer Ben Briscoe is a step closer to qualification for the Open starting at Royal Birkdale on July 17 after carding a 70 at Prestbury on Wednesday (July 2) to book a place in the final qualifying event at Hillside.
Ben has flown home for the Open from America where he recently had his first win on the NGA Hooters golf tour and is currently seventh in the tour's money list with earnings of over $43,000.
Former Conwy member Mark Sheppard, now based in Chester, and Andrew Barnett from the North Wales Golf Centre at St Asaph, are also through to final qualifying at Hillside and Southport and Ainsdale.
