COLWYN BAY recieved a big boost today (Friday) with news that the Football Association has approved new proposals for next season which sees the Seagulls switched to a newlook Unibond Divsion One North.
That will eliminate the long away trips to Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire of last year in Division One South and will reduce expenditure as half their away games will be in the South Lancashire and Manchester areas.
Their two longest trips will be against Durham City and Newcastle Blue Star in the North East.
On the face of it the North division looks an easier option to the south division that will include the likes of Retford United, Sheffield FC, Grantham, Leek Town and Stocksbridge.
Twenty teams are ear-marked for the Division One North:
Bamber Bridge
Chorley
Clitheroe
Colwyn Bay
Curzon Ashton
Durham City
Garforth Town
Harrogate Railway
Lancaster City
Mossley
Newcastle Blue Star
Ossett Albion
Radcliffe Borough
Rossendale United
Salford City
Skelmersdale United
Trafford
Wakefield
Warrington Town
Woodley Sports
This Saturday (May 17) a Colwyn Bay fans team is playing a club staff team at Llanelian Road (11.45am kick off) for the Margaret Jones Memorial Trophy. The match will be followed by club presentations and then the FA Cup Final on the big screen in the cubhouse. All welcome.
