COLWYN BAY Rugby are set to clinch runners-up spot in Division Four North of the WRU National League after beating newly crowned champions Caernarfon 31-16 on Tuesday night.
After taking an 11-3 first half lead, they saw Caernarfon hit back to lead 16-11 before Colwyn Bay finished the game strongly and won with tries from Sean McDonagh, Mark Earl and Gaz Wynne, who also kicked a conversion and three penalties, while Ashley James added a drop goal.
Colwyn Bay play Nant Conwy in the semi-final of the ScottishPower North Wales Cup on bank holiay Monday (May 5).
Llandudno lost 26-0 at home to Ruthin on Tuesday.
