Defeats for Colwyn Bay and Llandudno

Posted by Tim Channon on February 9, 2008 9:57 PM |

SATURDAY proved a disappointing day for both Colwyn Bay and Llandudno.
Colwyn Bay suffered a second successive 1-0 away defeat at Stocksbridge Park Steel, while Llandudno were beaten 3-1 at home by Holyhead Hotspur after taking an early lead through Chris Hogg.
A Mike Thomas penalty put Holyhead level at half-time and two second half goals saw them complete a league and cup treble over Llandudno and move to within four points of them in the Cymru Alliance table.
Prestatyn's win at Landyrnog means they have re-opened a 15-point lead between themselves and second-placed Llandudno.
Colwyn Bay controlled much of the play at Stocksbridge, but couldn't make the most of what chances they created, with Anthony Wright missing the best of them, and they lost to an own goal in the first minute of the second half when a shot was deflected into the net off Lewis Callaghan.
In the Welsh Alliance Glan Conwy beat Llanberis 3-1, Conwy United won 2-0 at Halkyn United and Llandudno Junction ended an 11-match losing run with a 4-2 victory over Nefyn United.
Penmaenmawr lost 4-1 at home to Llanrug in the Barritt Cup, while in the Clwyd League Llandudno Reserves drew 0-0 in their top of the table match at Connah's Quay Nomads reserves. while Llandudno Junction reserves won 1-0 with a Chris Darby goal at Bro Cernyw, but their were defeats for Mochdre Sports, Glan Conwy Reserves, Betws-yn-Rhos, Penrhyn United and Rhos United.
