Colwyn Bay lose away again

Posted by Tim Channon on February 16, 2008 6:56 PM |

COLWYN BAY's poor recent away form continued with a 3-1 defeat at league leaders Retford United.
Forced to field a makeshift back four due to injuries and suspension, they were a little unlucky to be goal down at half-time, but conceded a second goal a minute into the second half and although Neil Black pulled one back for them, Retford got a third three minutes later to make sure of the points.
Mick Godber and Neil Harvey who have scored 47 goals between them this season, were both on the scoresheet again for Retford who stay seven points clear of Cammel Laird at the top of the table.
The Seagulls are now 11 points adrift of the top five play off places.
LLANDUDNO produced another disappointing home performance to drop two more points in a 0-0 draw against struggling Ruthin, now managed by Adie Jones.
Llandudno struggled throughout to break down a well organised and hard-working Ruthin defence, forcing only a couple of saves late on from Ruthin keeper Simon Williams.
With Holyhead and Flint both winning, Llandudno's second-place is now under increasing pressure while Prestatyn's win has put them a massive 17 points clear at the top.
GLAN CONWY are new leaders of the Welsh Alliance after a 7-0 home win over Pwllheli, and Llanrwst United also won 2-1 at home to Holywell.
Llandudno Junction put up a battling performance to draw 1-1 at Conwy United. Paul Cassidy put Conwy in front at half-time, but Junction equalised through Bobby Colville after 70 minutes to share the spoils.
Conwy, however, draw level on points with Rhyl who lost 1-0 at Nantlle Vale.
In the Clwyd League Penmaenmawr Phoenix retained their unbeaten league record with a 7-3 home win over Denbigh Reserves with Peter Williams and Bleddyn Jones both scoring twice, and they are now 13 points behind Premier Division leaders Prestatyn Reserves with six games in hand.
Llandudno Reserves are nine points clear at the top of Division Two after a 6-1 win over Penrhyn United, while Llandudno Junction Reserves won 3-0 at Llannefydd and Rhos United were 6-0 winners over Bro Cernyw with a hat-trick from Grant Williams.
Glan Conwy reserves won 4-0 at Y Glannau in Division One, but Betws-yn-Rhos lost 4-3 at Caerwys.
More details on all these games in Thursday's Weekly News.
