COLWYN BAY have signed defender Lee Hoolickin from Barrow in time for him to make his debut in tomorrow's (January 5) Unibond President's Cup game at Ossett Albion.
Manager Gary Finley commented: "Lee has played in the Conference north and was with me at Southport, and at 25 I see him as a very good signing for us."
Hoolickin started his career as a trainee with Carlisle United and after being released in 2002 he played for Workington and Leigh RMI and then Southport, before joining Barrow in July last year.
He was released just before Christmas by the new Barrow managment team of Dave Bayliss and Darren Sheridan, and Gary Finley sees him as a replacement for John Boardman whose transfer to Llangefni Town was completed yesterday (Thursday).
The manager commented: "I am disappointed to lose John, but to fair to him he could have gone last week and agreed to stay and play for us against Warrington when we had a few players unavailable."
The manager revealed today that he has also put in seven days for another defender and hopes to complete that signing next week.
One injury blow for tomorrow, however, is John Lawless who has a hamstring strain and is likely to be sidelined for a couple of weeks, but the rest of the side that beat Warrington Town 7-1 on Tuesday are expected to be available.
Ossett report the game looks certain to go ahead. Snow fell yesterday (Thursday), but it has all gone today.
Colwyn Bay from: Jamie Speare, Steve Wynn, Steve Hoolickan, Lewis Callaghan, Chris Taylor, Adam Wade, Paul Williams, James Olsen, Neil Black, Anthony Murt, Mark Quayle, Martin Crowder, Colin Roberts.
