LLANFAIRFECHAN motor racer Richard Singleton has become the first independent driver to finish in the top 10 of the Formula Renault UK Championship in his first season.
He took seventh place after only once finishing out of the top 10 in races during the year, and three times he was fourth and just missed missed out on the podium, despite being up against drivers backed by the major racing teams. He also finished third in the Graduate Cup for first year rookies in the championship.
The 19-year-old is now in the running for the Formula Renault Winter series after claiming maximum points in the first of the four-race series last weekend.
