HAVING been away in the South of England for a few days, it was with great sadness I returned this evening (Sunday) to learn that Colwyn Bay Football Club stalwart Margaret Jones had passed away.
I have known Margaret for over 20 years since I first started reporting on Colwyn Bay and have always admired her enthusiasm and commitment to the club which spanned an amazing 50 years.
I'll remember her not only as the cheery face behind the tea bar for many years, but as a hard-working fundraiser and a stalwart campaigner for the club during the long running legal dispute with the FAW which finally went to the High Court in London before justice was achieved.
She always had a smile and a friendly word when ever she saw me on match days and Llanelian Road will never be quite the same without her.
