COLWYN BAY are through to the next round of the FA Trophy after 2-1 win at Unibond Premier Division strugglers Frickley Athletic.
First half goals from Lewis Callaghan and John Lawless saw them clear their second hurdle in the competition and put them in the hat for Monday's draw, despite arriving late after being stuck in a traffic jam on the motorway.
The game kicked off 20 minutes late, but the Seagulls were 2-0 up by half-time.
There was disappointment, however, for LLANDUDNO who lost their top of the table game at Bala Town 3-1 in the Cymru Alliance after leading 1-0.
Lee Thomas put them in front with a great strike from the right hand corner of the penalty area from Craig Hogg's run and pass after 13 minutes, and Llandudno were looking good until a lapse in concentration and slack marking in added time at the end of the first half allowed Bala to equalise from a corner through Wes Brereton's shot.
Bala got a second goal three minutes into the second half when Neil Fisher's shot from 20 yards following a throw in went in off a post and Llandudno were always struggling to get back in the game after that.
Fisher broke clear to chip keeper Andy Rooney for Bala's third 12 minutes from the end, and with Prestatyn winning at Buckley, it leaves Llandudno with a lot of work to do to get back in contention with the top two.
Bala have beaten both their main rivals, Prestatyn and Llandudno, in the last two weeks and manager Colin Caton said: "It's been a big fortnight for us and we still have players to come back from injury so things are looking good at the moment."
In the Welsh Alliance CONWY UNITED got back to winning ways with a 4-2 home victory over Rhydywmyn, but GLAN CONWY suffered a surprise 2-1 home defeat against Nantlle Vale, while LLANDUDNO JUNCTION lost 3-2 at Amlwch. More details in Thursday's Weekly News.
Bethesda Athletic lead the Welsh Alliance table after a 3-1 win over Rhyl Reserves.
