Speare is cup hero for Bay

Posted by Tim Channon on October 31, 2007 12:58 AM |

TWO penalty shoot-out saves by Jamie Speare saw Colwyn Bay progress to the next round of the Unibond President's Cup on Tuesday night.
They were leading 2-1 in normal time through Paul Williams and a John Lawless penalty, but Woodley Sports equalised with an injury-time penalty scored by their keeper Liam Hegginbotham.
With extra time failing to produce a winner, Speare saw the Seagulls through by the saving the first and last of Woddley's five penalties, while Crowder, Williams, Swan and Murt all scored for the Bay.
More details in Thursday's Weekly News.
