On top of the world

Posted by Tim Channon on October 4, 2007 11:03 AM |

PHIL WHITLOCK from Rhos-on-Sea has been confirmed as the World's number one ranked squash player over-45 after beating a worldwide field to win the British Open Masters title without dropping a single game.
And Llanrwst's John Bailey has became the first Welshman to win crown green bowling's Champion of Champions event at Blackpool.
Details of both these massive achievements are in this week's North Wales Weekly News along with usual round-up of local football, hockey, golf, snooker and darts news.
There are previews of this weekend's two big football games with Llandudno taking on NEWI Cefn Druids in the Welsh Cup and Colwyn Bay playing the oldest football club in the world, Sheffield FC, who are celebrating their 150th anniversary this year.
The Junior Sports page features pictures of Colwyn Bay Cricket Club Under-15s, who are Eryri League champions, and Colwyn United Under-15s football team, plus a comprehensive round-up of local junior football results, scorers and tables and junior rugby reports.
