Llandudno hit injury-time winner

Posted by Tim Channon on October 13, 2007 5:46 PM |

LLANDUDNO scored a goal three minutes into added time to snatch three vital points in a 2-1 win at Flint Town United and maintain their challenge at the top of the Cymru Alliance.
After taking the lead on 58 minutes when Lee Thomas latched onto backpass to round the keeper and score, Flint looked to have saved the game on 82 minutes when Llandudno keeper Andy Rooney couldn't hold onto a shot from outside the area and Stuart Hughes was left with a tap in as the ball ran loose.
Llandudno, who had had the better of the second half, played four up front in the closing minutes and won it in added time with a headed goal from substitute Anthony Tierney from a Lee Thomas cross.
Llandudno stay second in the table, but still four points behind Prestatyn Town who also won 2-1 at home to Llandyrnog.
COLWYN BAY put up a much improved performance to gain a point with a 1-1 draw at Nantwich Town in the Unibond League after taking the lead with John Lawless penalty after Neil Black had been fouled.
But they drop a place to eighth in the table and lose further ground on the top four sides who all won.
In the Welsh Alliance Glan Conwy beat Llandudno Junction 5-0, Conwy Uniuted drew 1-1 at Pwlheli and Llanrwst crashed out of the Cookson Cup with a 6-1 defeat at Llanrug.
